The Pekho Story

Pekho linen smock dress made in white with an olive stripe

Pekho clothing is produced in Western Australia from beautiful quality, natural fibre cloth.  Every style is defined by simple, un-fussy silhouettes and is designed to become a wardrobe staple for years to come.

Designer Buffy Murray creates timeless, size inclusive womenswear with a focus on linen. After years of working in a fashion industry constricted to wholesaling and seasonal deadlines, Buffy now slows down the process, creating small batch collections which coordinate season after season.

Buffy's love affair with linen and natural fibres is a long one. In 2000 she was selected as one of a dozen students Australia wide to show her collection on the catwalks at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week. Buffy's pieces were in linen, cotton voile and boiled wool in muted tones of olive, tea, raisin and deep red...textures and tones still at the core of her design aesthetic.

In 2005 Buffy started Mabu Clothing with a business partner, opening stores in Fremantle, Subiaco and Leederville.  Mabu was a size inclusive linen label, one of the first to hit the market.  Buffy's work with size inclusive womenswear and natural fabrics evolved into her brand Pekho by 2009...and so her love affair with linen continues.
